Day 17 of 30 Days of Photographs III. Add your link at the bottom of the page, and show me the money. And whatever you do, do not believe a word that Michael says.
Coins
I'm so sorry about the boring photo today. I was so completely uninspired by this prompt that it had to have been Mike's idea. He's the one who came up with Kafkaesque, too, you know that right?
Lemme guess. You got out of bed, rummaged through the change left over from all those vacations you take because you Finns get 45 weeks of time off every year, and used your macro lens and some dramatic lighting to make them look artistic, right?
I was completely uninspired too. This is exactly what I was going to shoot but our coins are so boring I couldn't even work up the energy to dump them into a pile.
Ziva, if you really want to learn how to layer photographs using some very basic and free online software, shoot me an email. It's very easy. With your eye for detail and skill with your camera, I'll bet you could make some gorgeous creations.
I'm not sucking up to anyone. When I looked at the list, the one I immediately liked was Kafkaesque. I don't care who thought of it but I could smack whoever thought of a few others.
I don't care who's responsible for the ones I like but I would love to borrow your whip to tan the hides of whoever came up with the prompts I don't like.
I've finally got a day when I'm out of work early and have nowhere I need to be. NOW, I'm enjoying myself. As well as the normal stuff, Rick and I have been doing some travelling this month too. It's made it hard to reply to comments on my own posts and I've missed all the shenanigans on everyone else's posts. I've been hitting a post and running onto the next. I really hope the rest of the month is a bit slower. I had such a great time with y'all in April & not being able to spend time reading the threads has really sucked.
The best part of this challenge really is the commenting, I'm sorry you haven't been able to take part in it as much as you would've liked to.. But hey, let me help you out. So far, Mike's trying to get Katherine to post nude photos, he's also trying to get Kevin to post nude photos, we're not quite sure which team he's batting for at the moment. Nicky hasn't been feeling well, but at least she's posting photos of her shoes, so we know she's still alive. And mostly, people just really want to be spanked. ;)
Thanks for offering, Cheryl! i'm sure I could figure it out if I made the effort, but I'm just too lazy to actually try. But if you have a favorite software that you use, I'd love to know. :)
If I understand Kafkaesque correctly, and I do, you can try to boycott it, but you'll fail. You're powerless in the face of it's power, and resistance will only lead to a form of endless despair.
Thank you so much for that update. I'm literally laughing my ass off. I knew Nicky was sick but didn't know she also wasn't feeling well too. Now to ponder who DOESN'T want to be spanked.
For everyday quick cropping, etc., I use picmonnkey.com. I've also used pixlr/express.com for that stuff too. They've got tons of other features (textures and such) but their easy layering tool is why I tend to use them. That feature is in Adjustments/Add Image. You control the fading of each layer. Danielle's photo had one photo layered over another as well as some texture added to one of them. Once you mess with this stuff, it's fairly easy to identify what types of enhancements have been used to create different effects. I generally prefer my photos to look like what I shot but it's fun to mess around too.

ReplyDeleteWell, it works. I like it.
And Kafkaesque is brilliant, child. Pure genius.
Kafkaesque is the one prompt I'm actually looking forward to. It's the most brilliant prompt in this entire series.
ReplyDeleteI was completely uninspired too. This is exactly what I was going to shoot but our coins are so boring I couldn't even work up the energy to dump them into a pile.
ReplyDeletei can handle money okay, i guess, but when Kafkaesque
ReplyDeletecomes up, i'm going to throw a tantrum. coins is coins. mission accomplished.
There's nothing boring about money. If you think so you can always send some my way.
ReplyDeletenothing boring about this photo
ReplyDeleteStop sucking up to Michael. There is no winner in this non-competition, and he needs no extra inflation for his huge ego.
ReplyDeleteI really like this even if you were uninspired. Maybe because your coins are more interesting than US currency, but also for the focus and lighting.
ReplyDeleteThere's actually some US currency in the pile, too. And a little British money, some Turkish coins and of course, Euros.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pat. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah....... i'll get right on that!
ReplyDeleteI think we should all boycott Kafkaesque.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm glad you're enjoying the challenge, Cheryl. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly. How did you know?
ReplyDeleteHahaha, well said, LM!
ReplyDeleteSo, are there enough coins there for a trip to Canada?
ReplyDeleteGod, I hope so!

ReplyDeleteZiva, you have some pretty shiny money there in Finland. And you took a nice photo of it.

ReplyDeleteBut will the vending machines take it?
ReplyDeleteHee Hee. Coins. Sheesh.
Hah! Finnish vending machines will. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda! I don't know about the shiny, but they are kinda pretty, don't you think.

ReplyDeleteOhh, more whipping! Better not start with Mike, though, his ego would grow even bigger!

ReplyDeleteMy ego will grow bigger if you whip me? No, that's not it, trust me.
ReplyDeleteIf I understand Kafkaesque correctly, and I do, you can try to boycott it, but you'll fail. You're powerless in the face of it's power, and resistance will only lead to a form of endless despair.
ReplyDeleteNot to be gloomy. :)
Ah hahahahahahaha! My guess is you flatter yourself.
ReplyDeletewell, I think it's pretty.
ReplyDeleteOOH, pretty and shiny. Are they dark chocolate or milk chocolate? BTW, I edited my post to correct my blunder.
ReplyDeleteDark chocolate with raspberry...
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Meleah!
ReplyDelete:)
