But it's also extremely smart. Expertly lit and composed, arranged so that it piques our curiosity without being too revealing, and technically challenging given that you had to take the photo blindly, which seems almost impossible. The placement of your hands alone is exquisite, a mini-photo within a larger photo, and it was brilliant to make them the focal point.
I'm also struck by the sensual quality of many of your pictures. Whether you're photographing a shiny bracelet, an apple pie, a cat, or a water droplet suspended in midair, you seem to be able able to capture the essence of the thing and its surroundings. Like that photo of the exhausted, lonely-looking man you found sitting with his head in his hands, half-asleep in a bar, surrounded by the happy hubbub of oblivious revelers. Or your own curvy shadow against a blind. Or any number of other pictures.
This is easily your best and most-memorable picture of the challenge, one of a passel of your photos that I believe should be in a gallery.
Or M's smoking den.
Your mad skillz have kept this challenge smoldering—I'm deliberately using the word both in its playful and serious meanings—throughout the past 30 days. But today you've set the whole kit-and-kaboodle on fire and burned it to the ground.
Seriously! I remember being your age and there wasn't much I wouldn't do for a photo and I have the scars to prove it. On the other hand, my husband has never been much of a risk-taker and he doesn't like his picture on my blog. I'd have gone there in a heartbeat but it would have been weird posing seductively all alone, don't you think? ;-)
Wow, Michael, your comment just blew me away, I have no idea what to say. :) Thank you so much for your kind words, and for always being so encouraging of my photography. I admire your skill with the camera more than you realize, and it means a lot to me that you like my photos and think I actually have some sort of gift.
