I bet you thought this would be over by now. If you did, you’d be 100 percent right. Yesterday was my first day as a free woman in a month, and boy did it feel good. This project has been a lot of fun for me, and it’s really helped me look at the world differently, from an artist’s point of view. I’ve taken some really good pictures, some really bad pictures, some really strange pictures, and a whole lot of really mediocre pictures. But it was also very challenging to try to keep up with the pace of one picture every day, and some days I cut it extremely close to the deadline.
Anyway, I'd like to thank you,
Michael, for agreeing to share this project with me, and for kicking my ass every day with your fantastic photos, making me want to become a better photographer. Let me know when you feel like going for round two. And thank you, my dear readers, for not groaning out loud when you realized this thing would go on for thirty freaking days. Well, thirty-one, as it turns out. Because today I’m going to post some of the pictures that I took this past month and that didn’t make the cut the first time around.
These were the last ones, I promise.

Thirty Days of Photographs: The Rejects
When I agreed to this epilogue, I thought we were going to run our rejects. But you're publishing some of your best work. I love the balloon picture, for example, although I'm not sure why. It just feels very comforting and nuturing. It makes me want to curl up and take a nap.
ReplyDeleteOh, you're one to talk, your "rejects" were amazing! Maybe we should do a second epilogue and call it "Bloopers" and post the blurry, out of focus, crappy shots that were under- or overexposed and horribly composed and showed the artistic ability or a 3-year old. I have a ton of those.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why these didn't make the cut, Ziva. They are great. That first one of the flower simply blew me away. I enjoyed them all. Well done. And I enjoyed following your pictures for 30 days. I don't know why but I keep thinking there's water in that balloon. I agree with Mike. It's a great pic.
ReplyDeleteI FB'd this post.
ReplyDeleteThere's a pink moon in my bedroom!
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers and water photos are always some of my favorites.
You did a great job with the meme.
I think most 3-year-olds are more artistic than me.
My cat is licking my arm as I type. :)
Yeah, my theory is shoot 1,000 photos and maybe you'll get one halfway decent shot. I learned this technique from a monkey.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I read these comments before I wrote mine. I thought you took a photo of a pink boob and I was delighted and wondering if it was yours. Oh, it's a balloon. Okay. All of these are wonderful. Your sister looks like a painting and you really do have a great eye for the natural world. The flowers are marvelous!!!
ReplyDeleteWe must have studied under the same monkey.
ReplyDeleteThere's a sentence I never thought I'd write.
ReplyDeleteThe one of the orchid is one of my own favourites as well. It's almost sensual in nature, don't you think? The balloon photo is interesting; it's not particularly well lit, or well composed (trying to take a photo while a little boy throws a balloon in the air is not as easy as it sounds,) but the colors make the balloon kind of look heavy, even while it's floating in mid air, and it gives the entire photo a nice feel. Anyway, thank you for your compliments, it's nice to know someone appreciates the results of my work. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, this might just be the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYour cat is way nicer than my cat. My cat is biting my toes as I type. No one told me the cat comes with fangs.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to disappoint you, Linda, it's just a boob balloon. I'm glad you liked the photos, though. I do have a very pretty sister. Gorgeous, even.
ReplyDeleteA very nice job--all 31 days. Now I have to find out if there is a photography class near me that I can take, because every picture I've ever taken up to this point pales in comparison. :)
ReplyDeleteAll of those pix are great, I don't know how you were able to weed them out from the ones you posted.
ReplyDeleteI have an award for you at my place
That second picture, of all those weird green arms? That was the reject for a picture of your family, right?
ReplyDeleteYou are a very talented 3-armed, green-skinned, cheese-hating Finn, Lemmikki. I love you :-)
And one I thought I'd never read.
ReplyDeleteYou really have some fabulous 'rejects' here. I really like them all, especially the first flower (orchid?) photo. The boob-balloon kind of took me aback (or should that be "affront"?) at first, but it's very jovial!
ReplyDelete;-)
It was a great meme for both you and BonyMike. I'm looking forward to the next round.
Oh you don't need a photography class. I've never taken one, and I doubt Mike has either. I'm sure your pictures are ten times better than mine anyway. ;)
ReplyDeleteAn award? Hell yeah! I'll be right over.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was! How did you know? You're so good at this, it's scary. It must be all that cheese you're eating, making you so smart.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the orchid is one of my personal favorites, too. :) Doing this meme was a lot of fun, but I think I might need a break, a long one!, before we do it again.
ReplyDeleteZiva,
ReplyDeleteDid you study photography or is this an innate talent? You have an incredible eye.

ReplyDeleteI have not studied photography. In fact, I barely know how to hold the damn thing, mostly I just point and shoot. But sometimes I manage to point just right. ;)
ReplyDeleteAll of your photographs are incredible, babe!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!! <3
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenn!! It's all in the camera. ;)
