30 Days of Photographs II: Fire
Mine was a similar idea, but nowhere near as close in execution. As always, you rule. I bow.
Someone is dancing a little to close to the flame! Wonderful photo!
Very pretty -as far as the "f" word goes. Is that how you keep warm in Finland?
You have REAL matches! That looks awesome!
Very pretty and very simplistic...and such a beautifully lit photo. :)
If you'd waited any longer that would be an entirely different picture. I like how you chose to snap it half-way down instead of when it was struck. The burnt part of the match simply adds to what is already a great pic. Nice, Ziva.
Beautiful photo Ziva.
It is better to light just one little candle than to...shit! That hurts!
very, very, very cool! or hot!
Just admit it, you're only bowing because you're afraid of me, aren't you? ;)
Thanks, Linda! It was a close call, but luckily, no one got hurt. ;)
Yes, actually, it is. Although, I'm not sure we're talking about the same "F" word...
Thank you, I'm really glad you liked it. :)
Thanks, dufus. Will you think less of me if I told you I snapped it half-way down just because it was fun seeing M try to hold the burning match as long as possible?
Thank you. :)
Oddly, that's the exact same thing M said while posing for that photo.
Thanks, Meleah! :)
There are several things I like about this photo: 1) It's simple, including the background; 2) the lighting is very dramatic; 3) it's simultaneously beautiful and a little bit scary because M's fingers are about to get burned; 4) I'm impressed with your ability to hold the camera still enough for long enough to get a picture in that little light, and also impressed with M's patience. He must be a Kung Fu master.
I really like this, mostly for its simplicity. Nice shot!;-)
I assumed that these are M's hands, rather than those of a random stranger that you persuaded to hold a match. The raw nature of this is perfect. Not just the dark and light, but the way the hand is caught is lovely.
Ha! Maybe to switch my luck with that word I should move to Finland!
So pretty! I nearly burned my house down as a kid playing with matches!
M doesn't need patience to do what I ask him to do. ;) I'm glad you liked the photo, though. It was a bit of a last-minute solution when I couldn't think of anything else. So a dark room and some matches it was. Simple, with the flame as the only light source.
Thank you! Sometimes, thankfully, simple is enough. ;)
Yup, they're M's hands. Although, persuading a random stranger to hold a match for me couldn't possibly be that difficult, could it?Out of about 20 photos, only a few really showed the hand and how the light fell on it, the rest were way too dark. I guess I was lucky to get this one. ;)
Oh wow, that sounds scary! To think that something so pretty can be so destructive..
Yes! Finland is awesome, full of great "F" words.
Excellent shot, and I can totally see the smoke detector going off while you try to get the perfect take.
Wow! You truly captured the low, warm glow of a match. Awesome lighting! I'm convinced that I can smell the sulphur in the air from the striking of the match.
Very pretty, Ziva. This is the second time M's hand has played a part in this challenge. Is he going to help out on day 27 as well?
I love it. Perfect photo. Beautiful.
Hah, the matches did not make the smoke detector go off. However, the same can't be said for when I made dinner...
It wouldn't surprise me if you could smell it, we had to light one or two before I got a decent photo..
M's hands have proved very useful, indeed. However, for day 27 I have something else planned, no M at all.
Thanks, Kristen, I'm glad you liked it. :)
