I’ve been away for so long I can’t remember how to do this blogging thing anymore.
I’m fairly sure you’re not supposed to do it in the form of a letter, though. Let’s start over.
I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA.
No wait, you should never start a post by apologizing, it gives the readers the upper hand. Let’s start over.
I’ve been terribly busy. There was Athens, then were was the mountain of laundry after Athens, then there was work, then there were all these movies I had to see, and then I had to sort my matches according to length.
Excuses, excuses. Blah. Let’s start over.
Perhaps you’re wondering where I’ve been, why I haven’t posted in a month.
Maybe I’m wondering, too.
Look, I don’t have a good explanation for you. Sometimes writers—writers like me, anyway—get distracted. I’ve been busy, and I’ve been lazy. Mostly, I’ve been dreaming, and then dreaming some more.
But I did take some time to write this poem.
Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
Mike wants a pony.
And I want one, too.
No, that didn’t quite feel right either. Let’s try again.
Look, pictures from Athens!
Well that worked out nicely, don't you think? *
Cool Pix Ziva, I always wondered how turtles do it.
ReplyDeleteYou know, at first I didn't have that picture in the post at all, but when I looked at the finished post I just knew something was missing. And I said to myself, "This post could really use some turtle lovin."
ReplyDeleteI have a picture of some seagull lovin somewhere. Did you know that the boy seagull stands on the girl seagull's back? He just stands there, I guess if she'll let him walk on her back he's good enough to make bird love with.
ReplyDeleteOf course you have a picture of some seagull lovin. Are you sure the boy seagull really knew what he was doing? I can't see how standing on her back could possibly work. Birds are weird.
ReplyDeleteIt happened more than once with different birds. He stands on her, then he jumps off and they do it, then they separate and she looks at him all pissed off, like "WTF? I let you stand on me and that's all I get?!" and he looks at her like, "I have no idea who you are"
ReplyDeleteStory of my life!!!
ReplyDeletekidding :)
Ditto!
ReplyDeleteYea! Pictures from Athens! Nice. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteTwo turtles fracking! Yea!
Kittens! Yea!
Wait.
Cookies. Where are the cookies?
So....where are the pictures of my parents?
ReplyDeleteI am very glad you had a good time in Greece. I am very glad you saw a lot of movies. I'm even more glad you are back. Don't do that again. Thank you. Carry on.
Glad you made it to Greece. Great pictures. Loved the lamp shade. You got some really great shots. Racy reptiles. I guess that's how turtles speed up the pace. One pushes the other from behind.
ReplyDeleteGreece is lovely, I had some wine, some turtles got frisky, blah, blah, blah.
ReplyDeleteWhatever.
When do we get our ponies?
That's so funny! Linda M. Also has some turtles sexing each other on her website.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
Ziva who?
ReplyDeleteP.S. Great pics!
Oh crap, I forgot the cookies. I don't suppose some fresh-ish pistachios would do?
ReplyDeleteIt's strange, I took a whole bunch of pictures of your parents, but they were all horribly overexposed right where your parents would have been. They're not vampires, are they?
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren! Those turtles really put on a show for us. They weren't making great time, though. In fact, they pretty much looked rooted to that rock, like they'd been going at it for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteOh, you didn't get yours yet? Mine came in the mail today.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is awkward.
Thank you, Mike! I think there must be turtle love in the air.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mr. Dufus! I'm glad you could fight the dementia long enough to come look at my pictures.
ReplyDeleteYou managed to start this post with every 'do not be guilty of doing this'--have you been reading my blog? ;) Great pictures--and I'm still jealous that you got to go on this vacation.
ReplyDeleteOh, THAT Ziva! Glad you're back.
ReplyDeleteI WOULD HAVE TO TOUCH THE MARBLE!
ReplyDeleteDon't be jealous, it cost us a small fortune. ;) But then agan, it was totally worth it.
ReplyDeleteI know, right! I was thisclose to touching the marble when a very stern looking man in a uniform cleared his throat and shook his head at me. And since I didn't know if touching the marble would land me in a Greek prison or not, I didn't. I'm such a good girl.
ReplyDeleteGlad to be back!
ReplyDeleteI check my mail like 10 times a day. No pony. WTF?
ReplyDeleteLove the photos! I'm glad you had a good time in Athens and decided to wait until you were ready to post. Obviously, you were missed though!
ReplyDeleteDarling Darling Ziva! I'm so glad you came back! I was worried and getting secret agents all in a row to go find you and "M". Your poem totally rocks and I am really impressed that you and Michael want ponies. Frankly, I dislike horses so I really can't comment. They have big ugly teeth and they will chomp you and stomp you for no good reason at all. My friend Lee brought up the phrase "Turtle Style" and now that is caught in my imagination, making me lift my bottom toward the nearest available turtle every time I turn around. I'm hoping to stop soon. It's not my best angle. The photos are stunning as is Greece. I'm so glad you guys went and that you are home safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteAh, Athens... my ex-husband was just there... with his new wife... who's Greek... and 20 years younger than I am...
ReplyDeleteNah, I'm not jealous... but DAMN... it makes me feel like I should be wearing a t-shirt that says "My ex went to Athens with his new wife and all I got was... wait a minute... I didn't get shit!"
Anyway, welcome back, Ziva!
No. No, they're not. Mostly.
ReplyDeleteYAY! Welcome home. I love these photos. And I've been MIA too. Just now getting back into the swing of things on the Internet.
ReplyDeleteWow. This is almost as awkward as Mike not getting his pony when I got mine ages ago.
ReplyDeleteBut you know, take my word for it, Greek women aren't very pretty at all. They're all moustache and nose. Your ex is probably miserable.
Thanks Linda, it's great to be back. It's okay to not like horses, that just means more ponies for Mike and I. Yay!
ReplyDeleteThank you Meleah! Getting back to the internet is hard, isn't it? I'm going to swing by your place now to see what you're up to.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the photos! We really had an awesome time in Greece , and I think I must have missed all my whacky blogging friends way more than they missed me.
ReplyDeleteThat's rough man. Do you need to talk about it? We're here for you. Me and Mr. Bigglesworth. He's my pony.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is!
