  1. Great pic. Dark. Industrial. Overlaid with an air of frustration that waiting for a bus brings. I remember when I was much younger waiting for buses to g to school. I was a smoker back then and always debated whether i had time to light up before the bus came. It always seemed to work. No sooner had I lit up when the bus arrived.

  2. Very nice.  I love the way you framed it...seems by the look of that tree that there's nothing much really to do there...but to wait for something to take you away from that place.

  3. Killer photo! What's that building behind the bus stop?

  4. Okay. Okay. All that stuff I said about Mike winning? It was a lie. You win. Hands down. This photo is perfect. I won't say it in many words as Mike would, but...wow!

  5. That photo is amazing, it really is. The moment is perfect, the shot is stunning, not to mention the colouring and presentation. You've made my day :)

  6. That is exactly how I felt waiting for the bus. Brilliantly captured.

  7. I've known this scene too well. Late at night. Buses are infrequent. Winter.

Doesn't look too cold though even with all that takatalvi.

  8. This is a great photograph! I love the play of light in it!!! Now, maybe he is waiting for the snow to melt...

  9. This is an amazing photo, Ziva -- a very close second to your Stranger photo. It's perfect in every sense, but most importantly, in the mood it captures. Once again, you've gone beyond mere photography into art.

  10. Oh, I know that scene all too well.  And ... what BonyMike said.

Seriously, a fantastic photo.  It screams (albeit very quietly) 'waiting'.

    ;-)

  11. This is a great photo!  You wouldn't even need a caption for it!  I would have offered the guy a ride.

  12. Oh yes, the infamous make-the-bus-appear trick. I used to deliberately be late for the bus, in which case it would always, without question, be early. I'm glad you liked the photo, dufus. :)

  13. Thank you. :) There really isn't much to do there, and what's worse, I live right around the corner. ;)

  14. Thanks, Meleah! I think it's the old post office or something.. I'm really not sure, we'll have to ask M when he gets home. ;)

  15. Aww, thank you Bryan, I really appreciate the nice comments. :) We'll see about the winning thing, though, I have a feeling this non-competition is only going to get tougher. People are really stepping up to the challenge. :)

  16.  No, you've made MY day with this comment. ;)

  17. I don't think he was too cold, he was focusing so hard on waiting for the bus that he didn't have time to be cold. ;)

  18. Thank you! He's going to be waiting for a loooong time.. ;)

  19. You say the nicest things, Michael, you really do. My photos are nothing compared to yours, but your opinion means a lot to me. So thank you, I'm really glad you liked it. :)

  21.  Thanks, Linda! That guy would have been so lucky if you'd come along. ;)

  22. Great photo!  That poor guy looks miserable!

  23. Oh, yes, please do. I am dying to know!

  24. Gorgeous. Perfectly gorgeous.

  25. Wow! You really know how to grab a moment. Even if you weren't a nut for black & white, this photo demands it. In color it would be so distracting. This is haunting, sad, hopeful, and a dozen other emotions all at once.

  26. Thanks Nora! Miserable is pretty much how we all look in Finland, at least during the 11 winter months, we might crack a smile in July.

  27. Aw, thanks Cheryl! I do love my black and white... ;)

  28. Aside from the sheer beauty of the photo, you know what I like? He's reading! He's not playing a game on his cell phone, or updating his Facebook status. He's reading.  A book.

Is this what Finland is like? A nation of people who read?

  29. I was hoping someone would say something about that. :) And yes, this is a nation of people who read. Welcome home.
