30 Days of Photographs II: Ordinary Matters

Money, the most ordinary of matters. We all deal with it every day. We work for it, we spend it, we count it and sometimes, we dream of having more of it. This girl was counting it. Maybe even dreaming of having a little more of it, because they sold two different kinds of chocolate bars at the concert, and she chose the smaller one, the less expensive one. Then again, if she’d had more of it, she’d probably still be counting it, because that’s what money does to you.

Money, can’t live with it, can’t live without it.

  1. Okay, now I have that Pink Floyd song running through my brain. Lovely photo, Ziva. I like how it's lit. Cool.

  2. I can't work out the lighting - a stage light perhaps? - but the effect of the light above and coming through the gap in the curtain, or doorway, is really unique, and I love how it is falling on the girl's hair.

I hate money, although some more of it would be nice.

  3. I thought for sure this post was going to involve light sabers and Yoda.  But then I scrolled down and it was just a girl.  Sigh.

Nice job with ordinary matters, Ziva.

  4. Such a... soft photograph. Not ordinary at all, for being about an ordinary matter. Lovely.

  5. Such a sweet photo!  It makes me want to buy the girl 2 big chocolate bars!  Wonderful halo effect around her.  Nice!

  6. The lighting looks like sunlight streaming down from a skylight to me, but I could be wrong. Only Ziva could tell us, if she wants to. She might want to leave it a bit mysterious. Either way, very nicely done...as always by our leader Ziva.

It's a beautiful picture, soft and ethereal. Unlike money, which is hard and earthly.

  10. Love the lighting in this photo. The halo effect combined with the soft focus make it a beautiful image. As for money -it's dirty. No really, think about the germs it carries. It's dirty.

  11. Love it Ziva. Do you just walk around with your amazing camera and take amazing photos all day? Because.. once again - beautiful.

  12.  Do you mind if I call you UP? Hey, UP, you're probably right, I'd like to employ you as my personal, ever-present and etherial advisor. Is that ok?

  19. The light was simply perfect, and she happened to stand in a way so I could move around to get best angle where the light shone right down on her. What can I say, sometimes you just get lucky with the light. ;)

  20. Ah yes, only Ziva knows and Ziva loves a secret. ;) Thank you, Bryan, I really appreciate the nice comments. :)

  21. Damn, I wish I would've thought of that, we have dozens of lightsabers just lying around here.

  22. Thank you, Nicky. It's not quite as lovely as your photo today, though, which was just sheer perfection. :)

  23. Thank you, Linda, I'm really glad you liked it. :) I would have bought her the chocolate, but I was busy being a creepy stalker, taking photos of her instead. ;)

  24. Thanks, I'm glad you liked it, Double-O. :)

  25. Thank you, Michael. :) There really is something to be said for soft light like this..

  26. Perhaps she's actually an angel? ;) An angel carrying highly dirty money.

  27. If you want to just keep taking pictures of lips and pretty girls, I'm good with that.

  28. Well, Michael would say that I just send out my amazing camera and it comes back with amazing phtos for me to publish, but the truth is a little different... ;) I carry the camera wherever I go, just in case I come across something I want to shoot.. And sometimes, I actually get lucky and manage to capture something. ;)

  29. The lighting is amazing. It's like the heavens opened up to help her find her money. Did the girl know you were taking her photo? Were you right up by her or far away? Just wondered what she thought about you.

  30. Thanks, Malisa. :) I wasn't standing too far from her, but she had no idea I was taking her photo. There were a lot of people around, and she wasn't paying attention. Which is good, otherwise she'd have thought I was crazy. ;)

  31. Cool photo!  Money may be an ordinary matter but we worry about it more than what's ordinary don't you think?  I know I do anyway!  :)

  32. She's lying. The camera does all the work. All she has to do is change the batteries once a week.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks Nora! We really do worry about it an awful lot, don't we...?

  34. I love the way the light creates something of an aura around her. Money may be ordinary but it sure does mess with our heads.

  35. Don't tell me you got lucky with this one. It's awesome and I love the text you worked in around it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Um, but what if I did get lucky? :D I get lucky a lot, you know...

  37. The light really was perfect. :) And money not only messes with our heads, but it makes everything complicated.

  38. Of course, I was hoping you'd ask.. ;)

  39. Love the lighting in this photo. The halo effect combined with the soft focus make it a beautiful image. As for money -it's dirty. No really, think about the germs it carries. It's dirty.
