Day 9: Disguise
Today, we're going to meet the hosts of this fabulous photo challenge. This is the fourth (that's what the little IV behind "30 Days of Photographs" stands for) time MikeWJ and I are hosting this wonderfully dysfunctional challenge. The first time it was just Mike and I, but people got jealous and demanded to participate, so we let them. Then they begged us to let them stop participating, but we were done being accommodating. Each year, the prompts get bigger and better, and the participants get whinier and lazier. Including Mike and I.
Now, meet MikeWJ. He's a handsome youngish man with hardly a bald spot to speak of. He enjoys very slow walks on the beach, writing short stories with ink and a feather quill, and talking politics - he doesn't entirely support King Henry VIII's plans to invade France, but he commends him on his success with the ladies. MikeWJ is half British, half American, and takes some truly awesome photos.

Ziva Moon is Finnish and does not enjoy talking about herself.

ReplyDeleteAhahahahHAHhaha!!
Also - I seriously LOVE both of these photos! And I seriously LOVE the BOTH of you!
Ziva, you're picture perfect. Mike, not so much.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe you are that shy. You look so innocent in that photo, but we know you own a whip, at least.
ReplyDeleteAh, excellent disguises! I was quite surprised to find out that MikeWJ can't take a decent photo and Ziva is actually from Georgia! Hee Hee.
ReplyDeleteLove you both!
Nice disguises!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful disguise. At least we know who framed you. And MikeWJ has a camera protruding from his forehead.
ReplyDeleteTwo great pics. Ziva is beautiful and the clear water with the reflection of White cloud and other scenery is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteAnd we absolutely LOVE you too, Meleah. xoxox
ReplyDeleteYou're the sweetest, dufus. Don't be so harsh on Mike, not every man can be as ruggedly handsome as you are. ;)
ReplyDelete"At least" being the operative part of that sentence... ;)
ReplyDeleteNothing gets past you, Reffie!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nora, we worked hard on them.
ReplyDeleteHa! So true, Lauren.
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteAre you going back to that comment about rug burns, Ziva?
ReplyDeleteSo I was going to make a joke about Mike's bald spot and then I saw the second picture and just sat here ogling you for hours instead. Do you always look away from the camera so nobody will see the evil gleam in your eye, my beautiful Lemmikki?
ReplyDeleteWell... Yes.
ReplyDeleteShe has more than one eye, actually, and they both gleam in an evil way.
ReplyDeleteUhm, what about me? I'm in one of those photos, and I look pretty hot.
ReplyDeleteAnd horns.
ReplyDeleteNora's brief comment indicates stress. I'm so pleased.
ReplyDeleteUhm, I can read, you know.
ReplyDeleteWe do, actually! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but I have to sound the disqualification buzzer here because that photo of you, while lovely, wasn't taken by you. I suspect it was taken by the very capable photographer M, but since he's not participating, it doesn't count.
ReplyDeleteNow, for those folks who would like to know more about Ziva the Finn, I do have a few tidbits of information. Like most Finns, she lives in a hut made of birch trees, she eats a lot of reindeer, she speaks Swedish and six or seven other languages, she enjoy long walks off short planks -- watching them, I mean -- and is justifiably proud that her her tiny nation successfully defeated the fucking Russians in WWII using only snowballs and battleaxes. Also, she's only eaten lobster once in her lifetime, but has had more Nikivas to drink than she can remember, mostly because a Nikiva is made with vodka and rocket fuel.
You never cease to amaze me, Mike. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteWell, it was like 100 degrees, it's no wonder you look hot. Don't feel bad about it.
ReplyDeleteDon't be silly, the rules clearly state that you may post a photo that's either taken by you, or features you, and it's obvious I'm in that photo. I broke no rules, Rastafari man.
ReplyDeleteAwww! xoxo
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Mon.
ReplyDeleteIt was miserably hot. And high. It was fun watching you struggle for oxygen.
ReplyDeleteI just assumed Mona Lisa took the image on self timer - as I did.
ReplyDeleteYou're not fooling me, you were really worried there for a minute. You would've totally gone all superhero and carried me down the mountain if I had passed out. Or maybe caught one of those goats and strapped me to its back.
ReplyDeleteI see the bald patch! it's worse than I thought!! ;)
ReplyDeleteNever assume, Tami.
ReplyDeleteThe first photo of Mike taking a photo is absolutely stunning. Love the reflection in the pool and the clarity of the water. Outstanding. Mike even acts like he knows what he is doing.
ReplyDeleteYou always look so demure in your photos. You know what they say. You can't trust a book by it's cover.
Well Finnish Ziva is at least as lovely as Mona Lisa and Mike WJ fooled me. If I didn't know better, I would say he was indeed a photographer.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I feel way more worldly to have such sophisticated new friends!
:-)
Traci
While both of these are great, Ziva in disguise is a fantastically beautiful pic. I'm also reminded that I have an empty frame at home. Hmm...ideas :)
ReplyDeleteI love the photos you & your talented husband took of Mike (and you and Mike). He looks so relaxed in all of them. You're still avoiding looking into the camera but I'm proud of you for letting all these kooks take your picture when you were in the States and I love that you even posted one here.
ReplyDeleteSo, the trick is use a random picture, but using the prompt in the caption. I finally understand.
ReplyDeleteThat shot captures you beautifully.
Disguised as a real photographer..... Love it!
ReplyDeleteShe's so mean to me. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for noticing that, Shawn.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't relaxed at all, it's just a trick of her camera.
ReplyDeleteYou will pay for that, Janine.
ReplyDeleteNow we know what you look like and we know where you live. That spells danger!
ReplyDeleteUh oh... I better go hide the booze.
ReplyDeleteYes, you do. You keep begging me for more.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Katherine, me too. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shawn. :) And yeah, you can pretty much get away with posting any photo you want, as long as the caption is good enough. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you, I think I'm blushing now. :) So, does this mean you're going to be standing around holding that empty frame whenever you have company over? ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Traci! It's always nice to make new friends, isn't it? I hope you don't mind that one of us lives in a frame, and the other one fakes it. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou should see some of the other photos I have! It's a good thing he's so handsome, it totally makes up for the bald spot.
ReplyDeleteOh Cheryl, you are really observant, aren't you? I was incredibly uncomfortable with all the photo taking, and didn't quite realize everyone would be posting photos left and right, but I decided to bite the bullet and just go with it. The mystery of Ziva is gone, and I still feel a bit apprehensive about having my photo all over the internet, but it's getting easier.. Very very slowly. :P
ReplyDeleteLiar. This is the one time you can't say I have no talent and it's all the camera. You had fun, Mike, just admit it.
ReplyDeleteHa! So true. Don't believe anything you see. ;) Thanks, Malisa, I loved taking photos up on that mountain, the skies were an impossible shade of blue, and the scenery just stunning.
ReplyDeleteBe afraid, Ziva! Be very afraid!
ReplyDeleteYou are so full of shit. Relaxation was oozing out of every fiber of your being.
ReplyDeleteYes'm, I tend to pay attention, remember obscure details, and I can be disarmingly straightforward. With you, I find it easy to do all those things. When Linda posted the first FB photos from Alameda, I was shocked that you were out from behind Ziva and your handsome husband was no longer the mystery M. Doing that for Linda was such a special gift. You have no idea how much that meant to her.
ReplyDeleteThe photo of you and Michael at the piano is my favorite picture of the summer. It's ironic that visiting these nutjobs opened a window or door to a bit more freedom on this blog. I loved your anniversary post and that you felt comfortable enough to include all those gorgeous photos of the two of you.
You're doing great getting used to being the one in front of the camera. Your beauty shouldn't be hidden behind the camera all the time. Just during these death marches.
Thank you. Cheryl. :) It's really great to hear that my efforts aren't going by completely unnoticed.
