30 Days of Photographs III: Heart

Day 26 of 30 Days of Photographs III. It's almost over now, people. Stay strong, stay away from sepia, questionable fake dolls and birds that are likely to peck your eyes out. We'll make it. Add your link at the bottom of the page and tell me how much you love me. I need a hug today.

Heart

Silly me didn't remember that "heart" was actually a prompt when I posted a photo of the horribly sepia-colored lace hearts, so for today's prompt I had to get really creative.

These little hearts are roe deer tracks in a field.

Now, to celebrate the weekend finally arriving, I'm making dinner for everyone.

A lovely roe deer steak.

  7. Well, in Finland it's in a couple of hours, but whenever you arrive is fine. ;) Yay for wine!

  12. Did you shoot her??? :) I didn't know they have such a cute hears with their foot. Heart warmed one... without the cook part!

  13. You just reminded me of the first time I had deer. I liked it, but they also served the heart (in keeping with the theme) and that freaked me out a little.

  14. Well, if it makes you feel any better, I wasn't the one who pulled the trigger. ;)

  15. They served the heart? WTF? Did you have dinner with some long lost African tribe or something?

  16. You can have my portion. Though I've tried, I never acquired the taste for deer. Actually, I'd love to try some Finnish seafood.

  17. Nope. It was years ago in Atlanta, GA and our hosts were hunters. It seemed like a customary thing to do, but again, no thanks.

  18. I come from a family of hunters who've always eaten what they've shot. My father always invited his hunting buddies over for a special meal of organ meats, including the hearts. My brother has continued the tradition. It's what hunters do. It's worse than birds pecking your eyes out.

  19. The members of my family who hunt have always made a special meal of organ meats. It is customary but it's also disgusting. As strict as my father was about what we ate, he never forced us to eat venison, mostly because it was considered a delicacy.

  20. Well it is now. Actually, I grew up eating seafood from tropical waters. I'm just curious to know how it compares to seafood in other parts of the world and globetrotting with a family in tow is absurdly pricey.

  21. Well, I'd love to prepare you some Finnish seafood, the crayfish is especially nice, but I'm not sure it would be quite as nice by the time I arrived in Alabama...

Well shit. I forgot to comment.

  23. NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY. I have so many pictures like this... from our hikes and from the beach house. Yet I never saw a heart in it. Now I can't wait for our next adventure so I can point that out to my daughter... I'll tell her about your picture!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah. So why didn't you when you finally remembered?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hah, I was desperate for a heart photo, I had to find a heart somewhere. ;)

Because I felt stupid. This is an extremely good photograph, partly because you found a heart in nature, and partly because you managed to capture the image, which is very hard to do when you're basically taking pictures of dirt. I know, because I've tried. The composition and focus are lovely, too.

All of which I thought, and thought I'd said when it was still fresh. But I hadn't. I feel really dumb now.

  27. I love this photo, Ziva! Really, fabulous.

  28. You flatterer. It's not THAT good, and I know it. But it's nice of you to leave a comment. Thank you. :)
