The Empire Strikes Back

Remember when I told you that M and I are going to become pet owners? I said that we were going to have a fish tank filled with pretty black fish. Sadly, that’s not going to happen. M and I simply couldn’t agree on what to put in it. I wanted a shark, he wanted goldfish. I can only assume he feels some sort of kinship with the little buggers. Why, I don’t know. I’ve been told a goldfish can only remember the last three seconds of its life at any given time, and I’m pretty sure M’s memory is marginally better. Then again, on Mythbusters they were able to train goldfish to swim through colored hoops in order to find food, and I’m positive M couldn’t be trained to do that. Oh well, it doesn’t really matter since we’re not going to do the whole fish tank thing after all. If we did, it would be strictly to grow our own cat food.

Yep, we are now the proud owners of a cat. Or rather, I’m proud. M’s mostly terrified. It seems he thinks they are all innately evil. M’s such a weirdo, how could this cute little thing possibly be evil? Say hello to Darth Vader:

Do you like the name? It was a toss up between Darth Vader and Bubbles. Darth Vader is a Ragdoll, he’s 12 weeks old and likes long walks on the beach and classical music. *

  1. While he might look cute, I'm certain he's planning how to take over the world. Mark my words!

  2. You're nuts. It's not like he attacked your foot on purpose or anything.

  3. That cat is really cute. Now, we used to have a 60 gallon aquarium and my cat thought it was his home entertainment center. I like Darth Vader, but I like Pepsi even better! Who gets to do the kitty litter clean up? (Make it M's assignment right from the start.)

    Fondly,

One who did not do that and lived to regret it.

  4. Darth Vader will just have to make do with our flatscreen tv for entertainment, just like us mere mortals. And I'm pretty sure the kitty litter clean up will have to be a joint effort by me and M. I doubt we can afford a kitty poop maid.

  6. I love Darth Vader for him, now I'm just hoping he doesn't live up to the name too well...

  7. I doubt Darth will be much of a threat, being a Ragdoll and all. All you'd have to do is lie him on his back and say, "There's nothing to see here" which will promptly put him to sleep. Oh, but he's so oh cute! AndI do like his name. (Little bugger!)

  8. You're probably right; since we brought him home earlier tonight he's done nothing but play and sleep. He's proving to be a pretty laid back fellow.

  9. I like the name Darth Vader. He even looks like he's going to start rasping "Ziva, I am your father" any moment now. Congratulations on the new edition to the family.

May the force be with you.

  10. A much better choice than a fish tank. What a cutie and I love his name. I'd take a walk on the beach with that little dude any day. Congratulations on your new family member.

  11. I am particularly fond of being owned by a cat--we have been bossed around by our Queen for 18 years. (She is nice enough to allow us to live in her house.) Darth Vader is adorable and will give you years of happiness, I'm sure--as long as you do what HE says, of course. (I don't think male cats are QUITE as uppity as females are, though.) :D Coincidentally, I just did a post about our cat and her passive/aggressive tendencies...

  12. I hope your cat can swim.

  13. Thanks Jayne! I definitely agree, a fish tank would be horribly boring now compared to this little bundle of energy.

  14. Oh, Darth Vader has definitely taken control of the house already. He's the undisputed king of our little family and apparently has the right to wake us up at 7:30 on a Saturday morning without anyone being even slightly bitter about it. I'll make sure to stop by and check out your cat's passive/agressive tendencies. ;)

  15. Of course he can. I think. Maybe. I have no idea. Maybe long walks on the beach isn't such a great idea after all...

  16. Thank you Nicky! You know, last night when I tried to sleep, I swear I could hear him organizing his Storm Troopers..

  18. I know!! (I'm allowed to say that because I didn't actually make him myself, I just chose him, so of course I chose a good one.)

  19. I decided to come by and read about your cat. He's beautiful...I've always wanted a ragdoll cat. He doesn't look all that terrifying...and if he likes long walks on the beach and classical music, how bad can he be?

  20. Oh, he's bad. I just chose not to mention how he eats little children for breakfast and rearranges furniture during the night. But he's very beautiful, you should definitely get a ragdoll.
